Aims & Objectives:
1. To raise health awareness in the public (particularly, the minority
ethnic communities) & assist to improve overall access to health
care services at local & national levels.
2. To provide prompt advocacy, impartial advice and accurate information
to help reduce health inequalities in minority ethnic groups of
the United Kingdom.
Activities:
1. To organise multilingual health awareness seminars / meetings
for benefit of wider community;
2. To publish bilingual healthcare information books for the benefit
of minority ethnic groups;
3. To liase with local councils, health authorities, Primary Care
Trusts /groups, relevant charity organisations, G.Ps and the hospital
staff;
4. To develop an IT-oriented facility for information, guidance
and community support;
5. To develop a topical audiocassette facility for the people who
could not read their native language;
6. To establish a free multilingual helpline for general healthcare
information, guidance, referral and support;
7. To support advocacy issues, as and when asked for, by the patients,
their carers or relatives;
8. To organise fund-raising programmes at local and national level;
9. To exchange information with statutory authorities for records,
follow ups and further developments.
